2011 Kia Sorento: A Crossover Story

The Kia Sorento his finally entrenched its identity as a crossover, and I think car buyers showing up at Extreme Kia’s Normal location will embrace the model’s features and affordability. The Sorento has an edgier style than a lot of crossovers, as it was a pretty cool design for an SUV. Out of the rugged and into the comfort comes the 2011 Sorento with added luxury and improved design, both interior and exterior. And the real kicker is this: The 2011 Sorento starts under $20,ooo. There is no arguing that Kia has raised the stakes on affordability, offering so much for a low price.

Kia is a reinvented brand indeed. Starting with test drives in Bloomington of the new Forte and Kia Soul last year, I began to realize that Kia was going to be a tough carmaker to beat when it comes to making cars that appeal to young adult buyers particularly and really anyone seeking the most for their money.

Bring to the table features like push-button start, a panoramic sunroof and bluetooth connectivity, the Sorento is a vehicle appealing to me even though I don’t have a family to tote here and there. Certainly a fine option for a family vehicle, this 2011 Sorento is just a little too cool to firmly plant in that category. My feeling is that a lot of buyers at different stages in life will fall in love with the combination of extras and price this Kia provides.

The Sorento takes on a front grille design that reminds me of the Forte Sedan, a new design direction being orchestrated by Kia Design Director Peter Schreyer, who is most famous for his work with the Audi TT. And another shift for Kia involves where the 2011 Sorento was made: right here in the USA at Kia’s new assembly plant in Georgia.

And what would be a discussion of the new Sorento without a nod to the recent Super Bowl Ad. One of the top 3 from this year in my opinion:

If you’re looking for something smaller like a new Forte Bloomington car shoppers can visit the Extreme Kia dealership in Normal for a full selection of the Forte and Forte Koup.
