2011 Kia Sorento gets trim upgrade

The 2011 Kia Sorento has an impressive list of accomplishments. Honored as the first vehicle produced in the Kia manufacturing plant in West Point, Georgia, the Sorento has since allowed the automaker to reach record sales in February. According to Kia, it’s the best-selling model in their lineup. So what’s next for the Sorento?

For those who attended the New York Auto Show, Kia unveiled the next evolution of the vehicle: the 2011 Kia Sorento SX.

In Bloomington, Kia Optima drivers might be wondering what the “SX” designation entails. Well, the Sorento SX boasts a sportier trim plus a wealth of new features and modifications. Exterior additions include LED taillights, a chrome exhaust tip and roof rails, and silver-painted 18-inch wheels.

While driving around in a Kia Spectra, Normal IL, Kia owners will surely be impressed by the wealth of features in the Sorento SX. Its interior underwent an upgrade as well. Alterations include stainless-steal pedal covers and extra accent lighting. However, Kia didn’t stop there.

Numerous luxury features come standard on the SX. These features include heated leather seats, auto dimming mirrors, 10-speaker Infinity Audio surround-sound system, and a voice-activated navigation system with a backup camera.

Bloomington Kia Optima owners can expect improvements under the hood, too. The Sorento SX is powered by a 276-horsepower 3.5-liter V-6 engine, coupled to a 6-speed automatic transmission and available in 2- or 4-wheel drive. The Sorento SX also rides half an inch lower than other models and comes equipped with Dual Flow Damper shock absorbers. Kia believes this position gives the SX a sportier stance while improving handling and not compromising ride quality.

Before running out to the Kia dealership and expecting to encounter the Sorento SX alongside the Kia Spectra, Normal IL, buyers should note the new Sorento won’t arrive in showrooms until this summer. So until then, they’ll have to be patient. Pricing has yet to be announced.

If the success of the original Kia Sorento is any indication, the automaker might very well have another runaway success on its hands.
